Elena Muhanova was born in Moscow. She finished Moscow State University of Printing Arts. 

She is a member of the Russian union of artists. She worked as an illustrator and designer in different moscow book publishers.

Muhanova had personal exhibitions in France, Germany, Italy and Russia. 

Some of her artworks are collected in the Pushkin state museum of fine arts. 

From 1990 she lives in Moscow and Paris.
